The metal second stages have better performance in cold water, thanks to the high thermal conductivity that limits the freezing effect. The presence of the metal in the body of the second stage noticeably decreases abrupt changes in temperature. In fact, metal is a good conductor of temperature, and makes the water surrounding the second stage act as a heating element for the air inside. Strange as it may seem, the water, even at a temperature of just a few degrees above freezing, may be considered "warm" in comparison with the air expanding inside the second stage. DFC makes it possible to minimize the intermediate pressure drop during the inhalation phase. This phenomenon is all the more marked when higher airflow is demanded of the regulator. The DFC system substantially reduces breathing effort and inhalation resistance, especially during deep dives and under demanding conditions. SCS System The first stage valve features a spherical seal for greater duration and safety. The SCS system practically erases the danger of violent and uncontrolled free-flow caused by abnormal wear on the seal valve.
